I'm pretty much a complete newbie to the hobby. I don't have much of a collection yet. Lately I've become obsessed with making my own. For some reason they start out as 54mm, but often end up closer to 60mm. The Indy Show will be my first show ever attending. I'm hoping to have a table there, just to get my feet wet.

Hi Captain,

You will most certainly enjoy the Indy show. I have never been able to attend that show. In fact, the only show I am ever able to attend is the Chicago show, but if I must be limited to only one show, Chicago is definitely the show to attend.

You are making your own figures? I would very much enjoy learning more about what you are doing. Are you sculpting your own figures? Casting them? Do you have photos of your work you might share with us?

I will also be interested in your opinion regarding the Indy show. While you are there, you might keep an eye open for Leadmen. He frequently attends the Indy show and he is a great guy and a very knowledgeble collector.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

I'm hoping I get to make it to the Chicago Show in 2010 also, that would be awesome. I'm hoping to learn a lot from the forum and shows. I'll make a point to take lots of pics at the Indy Show in April. Yes, I've started sculpting and casting my own pieces, but I'm the first to admit I'm an impatient amateur. Of course what I can do with RTV silicon and a HotPot doesn't rival what the big boys have out there, but each piece is a learning experience. One thing I've learned is that your final piece will only look as good as your casting methods limitations. I'll try to get some pics up soon. Is there any special thread for photos?

Hi Captain,

I shall eagerly look forward to the photos of your work.

You may post photos on any section of the forum. However, given the nature of the subject you will be addressing, I would tend to start a new thread and place your discussion and your photos in the "Modeling" sub-forum of the "Making A Toy Soldier Questions" forum. I am certain everyone will look forward to your contributions!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Hi all,

I wanted to give everyone a heads up that not only has the date changed for the Indy Toy Soldier Show this year, but that online room reservations are now available. You can find the link for the room reservations from the Indy Show Home Page:

http://www.playsetmagazine.com/IndyShow/index.html

Thx,

Jim

No I'm not the event organizer - just the guy who created and maintains the web pages. The Indy Toy Soldier Show organizer is Barry Carter. His contact info is on website:

http://www.playsetmagazine.com/IndyShow/

thx,

Jim
